By D16 Group Audio Software

Syntorus has a unique sound which will add classic chorus to the instrument it is used on. It will also add extra depth and lushness to acoustic instruments. The delay line module is the most important part of any chorus unit. To give Syntorus its unique and special sound, we implemented a very precise model of a high quality analog delay line and projected this into the digital domain. Syntorus also has an emulation of a Bucket-Brigade Device (BBD) analog delay line included within its architecture. Turning BBD on, it will add extra analog warmth and character to the audio signal. With BBD off, Syntorus functions as an exceptional high quality chorus effect unit where the spectrum of the sound is clean and pristine.

Syntorus includes TWO high quality analog delay lines to give deeper chorus sound. These can be set to operate separately or configured to run in a master/slave mode. Full control is provided over all parameters in the signal path allowing for absolute freedom when sculpting the sound. Both delay lines have an additional tremolo effect included which is controlled by a LFO – very useful for playing Rhodes keyboards or guitar sounds.

There are many different chorus effect plugins available on the market today. However, finding one which gives the classic analog chorus sound is easier said than done. Even on expensive units with advanced parameter controls, getting that vintage chorus timbre can be a challenge.

With this in mind, D16 set out to create a plugin which would have a rich analog chorus similar to the effect found on classic synthesisers like the Solina, Synthex or Juno. This new effect is called Syntorus x64 and is the latest addition to the Silver Line of plugins.

Syntorus x64 has a unique sound which will add richness to any instrument it is used on. Synthetic basses and leads will come to life. It will also add extra depth and lushness to acoustic instruments.

Have a listen to the demo songs or download a demo version today to try it. Whether you are an electronic musician, a traditional keyboard or guitar player, we are sure you will be impressed!

Now for the science… To create a chorus effect, an audio signal is mixed with one or more delayed, pitch modulated copies of itself.

Analog Delay Line

The delay line module is the most important part of any chorus unit. To give Syntorus x64 its unique and special sound, we implemented a very precise model of a high quality analog delay line and projected this into the digital domain. This means that Syntorus has a very musical and warm sounding delay line with no unwanted digital artifacts.

Syntorus x64 also has an emulation of a Bucket-Brigade Device (BBD) analog delay line included within its architecture. Turning this on, will add extra analog warmth and character to the audio signal. With BBD off, Syntorus functions as an exceptional high quality chorus effect unit where the spectrum of the sound is clean and pristine.
Double Delay Line

In most ordinary chorus effect units, a single delay line is used to create the sound.

As Syntorus x64 is no ordinary plugin, we decided to implement TWO high quality analog delay lines to give a richer, fuller and deeper chorus sound. These can be set to operate separately or configured to run in a master/slave mode. Full control is provided over all parameters in the signal path allowing for absolute freedom when sculpting the sound.

Under the hood

Evocative, characterful sound through painstakingly accurate modelling of a high quality analog BBD delay line

With so many chorus effect plugins on the market, finding one capable of delivering a truly authentic analog sound is easier said than done.

With that in mind, we set out to create the ultimate analog chorus emulation, inspired by the revered effects found in classic synthesizers such as the Solina String Ensemble, Elka Synthex and Roland Juno-106. This fruit of our labor is Syntorus 2, the newest addition to the Silver Line series of plugins.

Syntorus 2’s unique analog sound enriches any instrument routed into it, bringing life and movement to synth basses and leads, and adding depth and lushness to guitars and other electric/acoustic instruments.

Download the demo and try Syntorus 2 for yourself. No matter what kind of music you make, this is the analog chorus plugin you’ve been looking for!

There are many ways in which we can add color to the music we produce. Different instrumental or vocal tracks require different effects in order to sound like we want them to or just acquire a bit of presence. One of the effects that is often used for this very purpose is the chorus.

To achieve a chorus effect, analog effect units and digital plugins mix an audio signal with more copies of itself; however, the copies are more delayed and pitch modulated versions of the original. Today, we’re going to take a look at Syntorus 2, an audio plugin that aims to create a chorus effect with a vintage analog sound.

A powerful and versatile chorus plugin

All instruments and effect plugins from D16 Group are known for their high quality sounds and beautiful GUIs that take inspiration from various analog units of the past. Syntorus 2 is no exception, as the attention that was given to the graphic design is on par with the power and versatility of the plugin.

It’s worth mentioning that Syntorus 2 isn’t just a facelift of the original Syntorus. Now instead of two delay lines, you get three. Each line can employ its own filter, and further modulation can be achieved through the three LFOs, which can work on different scales, at different rates, and apply different waveforms.

More features and presets

The new mixer section allows you to control panning and volume for each delay line. One feature that was kept from the previous plugin is the Analog BBD (Bucket-Brigade Device) emulation that you can always activate if you want a warmer effect.

Syntorus 2 comes with many presets and browsing through them is easy, since the category filters can help you find a setting that you’re looking for in no time. It’s easy to recommend this plugin to anyone who wants an advanced chorus effect for their music productions.

Overview of D16 Group Syntorus

This Triple Path Analog Chorus is designed to provide a rich analog-sounding chorus, similar to the effect found on classic synthesizers like the Solina, Synthex, or Juno. It gives you a choice of two BBD delay line models: by default, the chorus features “ideal” BBD modeling, but activating Analog BBD Emulation adds extra analog character to the signal.

It allows convincing Leslie sounds, mainly when delay modulation is used to simulate the directional characteristic of a rotating speaker’s Doppler effect of a rotating speaker. The tremolo employed or added to the modulated delay line for creating even more dynamic sounds.
