Managing multiple email accounts can be a chore, especially if the accounts are from different providers. POP Peeper offers a solution to set up and manage your many accounts from one place. Automatic Mail check is also enabled by default.
POP Peeper’s uncluttered interface places the essential email options to create or respond to messages on a fully customizable Tool Bar. You will have to do some manual work to get your accounts setup but there is plenty of user guidance to help you get started and it handles nearly all of the most popular email services, including Yahoo, Gmail, and Hotmail. By default, you’ll see a notification icon on the taskbar when new mail comes in. You can add a sound or opt to see more information about who the email is from and what the subject line is. When you double click on the Tray Icon, you can quickly check your email, open the program or run your email client.
Installation was easy, but we found it left some Start Menu icons behind when it was uninstalled. If you don’t mind these minor issues, POP Peeper’s user friendly approach makes it easier to manage multiple accounts from one place.
WHAT’S NEW IN VERSION 3.8.1
POP Peeper is an e-mail notifier that supports POP3, IMAP (AOL, AIM, FastMail, mail.com, etc.), SMTP, Hotmail, MSN, Yahoo, GMail, MyWay, Excite, Lycos, RediffMail, Juno, NetZero, and iWon. Other features include portability, password protection, an address book, viewing in HTML (or rich/plain text for security), open/send attachments, separate polling intervals for each account. Many options are available to indicate new mail has arrived such as sound alerts (configurable for each account), flashing scroll lock, trayicon balloon, skinnable pop-up notifier, and a customized screensaver. An SSL plugin is available for download which allows you to retrieve e-mail from POP3 and IMAP servers that accept secure connections such as Gmail.
