FileSearcher is a desktop application that offers an enhanced and comprehensive text search of desktop files. A first-class function of this program is the display of file snapshots taken during the searching process. This allows you to quickly preview files and stop searching as soon as you have located the correct files.
FileSearcher provides you with extremely powerful full text search with regular expressions. It also allows to search for file duplicates. Deleting or moving duplicate files helps to clean up disk space and manage files better. It is possible to find file duplicates by name, size and date of creation/access/modification.
FileSearcher can help backup files without duplicating them in archives. You can find only newly created or modified files for adding them to new archive. So this allows you to have one base archive and a sequence small additional archives only with new or changed files. It helps you to safe space on storage medium.
FileSearcher allows you to search for files by filename mask, date, full text or even inside ZIP archives. Once found, you have several options available to manage your files: open them, open the containing folder, cut, copy, rename or delete.
Instant File Searcher Professional is a search engine for files and folders on your computer with many options and context menu search. Project has been abandoned.
At first glance, Instant File Searcher Professional can seem daunting, but you can simply just type in whatever you’re looking for and go. We found it crashed a few times trying this, so it seems more geared to narrow down your searches for particular files and folders, for example, images or videos. Once we narrowed down the search with just one option, it ran much more smoothly. Since we test in VMWare, it’s not unusual to find a few glitches that wouldn’t exist in a standard operating system, so we tried it on our daily computer with the same results. We found it crashed again when doing large, vague searches.
Some of the options you can use to narrow down your search include a filename, or part of it, date and time, creation date, modification date, folders and more. You can also narrow your search down to pre-selected categories including audio, video, pictures, documents, icons and more. Further options include whether you want to search files, folders, all directories, system and hidden files, size, and similar and exact names.
Once you have your results, you can export the list and right-click on any file to access whatever context menu options you have.
Instant File Searcher Professional takes searching for files and folders on any drive to a whole new level with plenty of options to narrow down your search. Just remember to take advantage of this and narrow down your search, so you get the best results. Instant File Searcher Professional’s numerous ways of searching the drive must be used and is the only downside to the app.

Quickly search for files and folders on your computer that match preset criteria, with this lightweight and simple software utility
Review by Catalin Chelariu on July 16, 2015
If you are looking for a straightforward application that can locate specific files and folders on your computer based on a set of predefined parameters, you can try FileSearch utility.
It is a lightweight and simple tool, designed to locate content easily on local storage or network drives. It offers numerous filtering settings, but does not offer any instructions and, as a result, some first-time users may have difficulties operating it.
Use multiple keywords and search in file contents
FileSearch utility allows you to use any number of keywords during a search operation and you can even designate more than one folder for it to scan.
It is also possible to search within files for specific words or phrases. You can choose whether or not the scan should be case sensitive and even exclude files that contain certain words from the operation.
Set numerous searching parameters
If you are looking for a file that has a very common name or need to find every document that matches certain criteria, you may want to include various filters.
You can search for files that were created, modified or accessed between certain times and dates, documents between a specific size range, as well as files with various attributes, such as archive, read-only, hidden, compressed, encrypted, temporary and many more.
Lacks instructions for some of its functions
FileSearch utility can locate files that contain certain characters, regardless of whether they are at the beginning, end or in the middle of the name. To achieve this, you need to include an asterisk before or after the inserted letters, signaling that files names do not need to begin or end with the specified characters to be displayed on the results page.
However, this procedure is not explained in any way and can be frustrating for a first-time user to understand.
All in all, this is a simple tool that can help you locate various files on your computer faster than the standard Windows search function. It offers numerous filtering options, but does not offer any instructions or documentation.
