Developer’s Description
With Fazortan, total control of the Phase shift parameter provides you with adjustability and allows obtaining the desired contour with high precision. Implement allpass filters comprising characteristics identical to its analog counterpart based on Operational Transconductance Amplifiers. Fazortan is like a copy of a retro phaser taken out from 70’s and redone to become a virtual unit. Full control over two Lfo’s (waveform, rate, depth and offset) is now available. Unlike in the hardware unit Fazortan’s Lfo works in a various waveform mode: square, sinus, ascending saw, descending saw, and random. Endless countour diversity stretches results from monotonies sluggish swing to become a gurgling scrumble, just by a slight repositioning of the rate knob. Additionally it is now possible to add consecutive allpass stages as well as regulate the feedback effect. The amount of stages translates on how many humps and pits residues in the converted sound spectrum while feedback parameter value implies severity of these irregularities. Feedback knob gives you sounds from soft to rapid and drilling. To visually display how it works consider a white noise as an input signal. Moving the feedback knob will start to morph incoming “sea waves” reminiscent noise into “windy” whiz. Additionally each Lfo can be modified by altering its respective phase giving as a result an improved panning of the incoming signal
A ’70s Classic, Resurrected
Brings you ever closer to the classic units’ sonic character!
Modulate Me, Baby
Full control over both LFOs: Unchained from its stomp-box restrictions, Fazortan’s LFOs have various tempo-synchable waveform modes.
Under the hood
Have you ever wanted to replicate that unique, magical breeze floating through most of JMJ’s tunes?
Fazortan 2 is the newest incarnation of our Controllable Space Phaser, part of the SilverLine Collection. Needless to say, we didn’t cut corners when striving for that robust, yearned-by-all analog feel. The Phase Shifter provides you with total control, allowing you to obtain highly precise sonic contours. If you’ve ever wondered what’s behind the swirling, ethereal synth vibes synonymous to Jean Michel Jarre’s vintage sound, it has surprisingly less to do with the synths he chooses but in matching it with the analog phaser for which Fazortan 2 is a fine equivalent.
You can think of Fazortan 2 as an exact virtual replica of a ‘70s retro phaser, but whose identical sound and primary functions aren’t limited to the analog realm. Bearing in mind that the original had a single Rate knob and a Color switch on the front panel, Fazortan 2 stands alone as a completely new device – made obvious no less by its GUI – expanding on the features of its hardware counterpart.
The best way to judge Fazortan 2 is to listen to it: you’re welcome to check out our audio demos. We made every effort to ensure Fazortan would fulfill all the expectations one could have in an analog unit, plus a few tasty virtual extras. Guitarists, keyboardists and vintage synth aficionados will appreciate its adjustable emulation of a rotary speaker, and this coupled with its rich, lush sound, completes a satisfying signal chain. Of course, given its dense tweakability, it makes a fine FX module adaptable to any genre.

Have you ever wanted to replicate that unique, magical breeze floating through most of Jean Michael Jarre’s music?
Fazortan 2 is the new incarnation of Controllable Space Phaser which is part of D16’s SilverLine Collection. Total control over the Phase shifter provides you with adjustability and allows you to obtain the desired contour with high precision. Have you ever wondered where does that unique magical breeze so audible in most of Jean Michael Jarre’s tunes come from? Surprisingly the backbone here isn’t the synth itself but the effect unit coupled with the synthesizer, saying more precisely – analogue phaser of which Fazortan 2 seems to be a fine equivalent. Thanks to the analogue modelling technique D16 were able to implement all-pass filters comprising characteristics identical to its analogue counterpart based on Operational Transconductance Amplifiers. Now in version 2 D16 are even closer to the sound character the original hardware unit brings.
You can think about Fazortan 2 as the exact copy of a retro phaser taken out from the ’70s and redone to become a virtual unit. But being the same sounding unit that provides primal functionality and sound of the original is where similarities end and where limitless scope of plugin comes to play. Bearing in mind only one Rate knob and a Color switch on the front panel of the real phaser device, Fazortan 2 from the first look at its GUI, presents itself as a completely new device that effectively expands the capabilities of its origin.
Structure
Full control over two LFOs (waveform, rate and depth) controlling the unit and unlike the hardware unit Fazortan 2 LFO works in various waveform modes: sinus, triangle, hyper-triangle and random (i.e. only triangle is available in original).
By using both LFOs simultaneously you’re now able to obtain the result that owners of the hardware box could only dream about. Endless contour diversity stretches results from monotonous sluggish swing to become a gurgling scrumble, just by a slight repositioning of the rate knob. Additionally, it is now possible to add consecutive all-pass stages as well as regulate the feedback effect. The amount of stages translates to how many humps and pits residues are in the converted sound spectrum while the feedback parameter value implies the severity of these irregularities. The feedback knob gives you sounds from soft to rapid and drilling. To visually display how it works, consider white noise as an input signal. Moving the feedback knob will start to morph incoming “sea waves” reminiscent noise into “windy” whizz. Additionally, each LFO can be modified by altering its respective phase giving, as a result, an improved panning of the incoming signal.
Who would like to use it?
The best way to judge Fazortan 2 is to listen to it. D16 made every effort to make sure Fazortan will fulfil all expectations one could have before buying an analogue phaser unit. Especially guitarists and retro keyboard players may appreciate the possibility to adjust it so it can emulate the rotary speaker, what along with its rich and lush sound, completes satisfactorily every audio chain.
Of course, given much more manoeuvrability it is a fine fx unit to be adapted regardless of genre.

Fazortan; the controllable space phaser is another great effect from D16 Group’s ‘SilverLine Collection’. D16 didn’t cut any corners with this effect unit; it’s the analog sound and feel that everyone desires. Total control of the Phase shift parameter provides you with adjustability and allows you to obtain the desired contour with high precision. Thanks to the analog modeling technique, D16 was able to implement all-pass filters comprising characteristics identical to its analog counterpart. Fazortan takes on the similar sound and primary functions of some classic 70’s phaser units, but its extensive parameter controls is where Fazortan separates itself from its retro influences.
Fazortan allows you full control of both LFOs simultaneously. Unlike other hardware phaser units, Fazortan’s LFO works in various waveform modes: square, sine, ascending saw, descending saw, and random. By using both of the LFOs simultaneously you can dial in sounds that hardware owners could only dream of. Guitarists and keyboard players will love Fazortan’s ability to emulate the lush and rich sound of classic rotary speakers or you can use the unit to its maximum capacity for more FX oriented results.
